In my art class, we were supposed to come up with an interdisciplinary idea within a group. Our first idea was something to do with a witch, in this case, it was going to be my work titled Trixie the Witch. But since the idea fell through, we came up a brand new idea.
In the beginning, we could not find something to work on, something that we all wanted to do. We had an idea of animating something, but that idea fell through. We were stuck for two whole class periods trying to figure out what we could possibly do for the final. But after getting guidance, we got on the topic of our favorite movies and why we liked them, we came a cross a similar theme between all of them. They all had something to deal with fantasy, magical type worlds. Having this theme really helped us in what we wanted to focus on for our project. With that being said, that is how we came across this idea.
We stared with the idea of a goddess or a fairy and since we couldn’t decide on which one, we decided to make them into one person. I was in charge of her and her goddess/fairy side can be seen by the fact of her wings and her pointy ears. We also decided to make her a nature goddess/fairy and I gave her antlers with vines to help indicate this idea. I created her in Adobe Illustrator and shaded her skin and hair in Procreate.

With me creating the character, Partner A was in charge of creating her clothes since she has been creating outfits in her free time and we wanted to create something that would fit well with our idea to make our character floats in a sense. She created something long and flows to give the effect of wind, this also shows with her hair floating above her head.

With me and Partner A working on the character, Partner B and Partner C were working together on something physical. Partner B had mentioned to us that she had been painting a lot and she really enjoys doing backgrounds more recently. Since Partner C is a fashion major, she was able to lend one of her jackets she made and Partner B used it as a canvas to paint onto the back. We wanted something nature-like so it would fit with our character as she corresponds to nature as well. We tried to give inspiration for the painting, like taking our favorite movie styles and put that into our work.

As we thought about it, we didn’t want the jacket to look like something was thrown onto it without any purpose, so we thought that maybe we could bring some of the nature into the jacket itself. So Partner C brought up the idea to put flowers “coming out” of the jacket. I think it really helped to make it feel like the jacket was apart of the world that we made on the back.

In the end, i decided to give her a name. I wanted something that was nature-like and represented something that came from the wild, so i came across the name Umeko, which means "Child of the Plum Blossom" in Japanese. So Umeko is her name.
Also, my movie I chose was Seven Deadly Sins: Prisoners of the Sky, which is why Umeko may look like Elizabeth and Elate of the Goddess Race.
