I recently was introduced by an artist by the name of Kehinde Wiley.
I became intrigued by the way his style was with plant life and a person as his subject.
I was inspired to create something of similar style but in my own way.
Here is what I did with some close up images.

My process for this project was quite simple. Looking at Kehinde's work, he paints a nature scene behind his focus, and then some of the wildlife will be in the foreground, covering his focus.
Taking that style and thinking of a One Piece character to try this with, I immediately thought of Nami and her orange trees. So, that's what I did.
I took a bit of a different approach to this and had less plant life in the background and foreground. I wanted to keep this airy feel to it all. Although my trees are mostly in the foreground, I liked the way it turned out because it reminds me of the eyecatchers that the show uses for commercial breaks.
I also added some cloud textures to the background since the plain blue color wasn't sitting right with me.
I did all this in procreate on my Ipad.
